The YSHIELD® A300 HEMP is a high-performance electromagnetic shielding fleece engineered for applications requiring exceptional RF shielding and protection against High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP). Designed to support shielding systems compliant with MIL-STD-188-125, it is an ideal solution for critical infrastructure, government facilities, data centers, laboratories, and secure communications environments.

The material consists of a durable fleece laminated on both sides with thick micro-needled aluminum foil, creating redundant shielding layers while maintaining excellent flexibility and durability. Unlike conventional aluminum laminates, the micro-needled construction creates approximately 4 million microscopic perforations per square meter, allowing outstanding water vapor permeability without compromising its exceptional 123 dB shielding attenuation.

Designed for professional contractors and large-scale shielding projects, the A300 HEMP is suitable for installation within walls, ceilings, and floor assemblies. For installations requiring compliance with MIL-STD-188-125, the manufacturer specifies a two-layer installation. For projects requiring only high-frequency electromagnetic shielding, a single layer is generally sufficient due to the product’s redundant shielding construction.

Installation Notes:

  • MIL-STD-188-125 Compliance: Install two layers to meet the requirements of MIL-STD-188-125.
  • Overlap: Install adjacent sheets with a 5 cm (2 in) overlap. Seal all overlaps using YSHIELD® HNX50 or HNX100 Shielding Tape to maintain shielding continuity.
  • Surface Preparation: Absorbent or chalky substrates should be pretreated with YSHIELD® GK5 Primer.
  • Adhesive: Standard cellulose wallpaper adhesives will not bond to aluminum. Use YSHIELD® PSA Pressure Sensitive Adhesive for proper adhesion.
  • Compatible Materials: Materials in direct contact with the aluminum surface should maintain a neutral pH between 4 and 9.
  • Grounding: The conductive surface must be integrated into the building’s Functional Equipotential Bonding (FEB) system using appropriate grounding accessories.
  • Multi-Layer Installation: Stagger seams between layers to optimize shielding performance.
